2012-01-20 The value of sports memorabilia has gone up and so many people are now
finding such to be a good investment. But collecting sports memorabilia
as a hobby can be a bit expensive.
In starting out you collection, determine a category to collect. For instance you may focus on sports cards. Then, you could further subcategorized this by being more specific like on what particular sport, what particular team for example or on whether you will focus on a single player only. Your options are practically limitless. Take a look at price guides, periodicals and sources on the internet to be able to gauge on how much certain items sell for. You can expect to pay quite a price for players who have made themselves legends and hall of famers. Sports memorabilia shows are an occasional event and visiting them will give you a feel of the variety and the quality of the items available in the market. Local shops specializing in collectibles and memorabilia can provide you with more contact persons for other sources of collectibles. Be in the lookout for auctions as certain auctions can have sports memorabilia being auctioned of or some auction houses actually specialize in sports memorabilia items. Order their catalog for an idea of the upcoming auctions and the items they may have on sale. Attend the auction or send in a proxy if you can't be there in person. Internet auction sites can also be a great source of sports memorabilia. It is always best to ask about the authenticity of the item. Buying from reputable dealers and vendors as well as being able to secure a certificate of authenticity will give you a feeling of security and assurance on your purchase. With regards to fake sports memorabilia, there are many circulating the market. You have to be extra careful so as not to be tricked by sellers who are out there to defraud others. There are actually businesses that specialize in authenticating your sports memorabilia to give you that peace of mind with regards the genuineness of the item/s. But from the start you might want to get free opinions from dealers, friends who may have experienced in spotting a fake from the genuine and other free loads of advice. You wouldn't want to pay for the fee that may cost you a couple of hundred dollars for an item that you as well bought for hundreds of dollars but turn out to cost just fifty bucks. dealdash review | quibids reviews 2012-01-20 Indeed, E-bay is today's most sought-after shopping portal in the
Internet. It has created in itself a worldwide phenomenon that people
get inflicted with. The joy and the thrill of bidding online create a
certain diagrammatic representation of life's drama.
Consequently, due to its underlying nature, the success of E-bay can be well attributed to its wide range of market reach. Hence, a lot of people are going in or out of the arena with a number of diverse products at hand. Because of its diversity, people all over the world resort to e-bay to sell just about anything, from the basic necessities to computer techies, and even weird stuffs. The most common case of weird auctions on E-bay was about virginity being on sale. There were about a dozen of auctions that put one's virginity on the limelight. There was even one auction that sold for $10,000,000 with 17 bidders at the most. Though, there was no clear implication if the report was true enough. Next, there were cases of auctioned letters from a serial killer being sold at 1500 pounds each. Then, there was one auction about a man who is selling his "fully functioning" kidneys. The reported bid amount was $5.7 million. There was no way to verify the truth, but reports said that the sale did not push through. There is much other weird stuff like one night stand with someone's wife, ghost in a jar, ghost cane, and air guitar, which were all sold, just for the heck of getting a sale on E-bay. But among all, the report about a 10-year old Virgin Mary grilled cheese sandwich that sold for $28,000 was the most sensationalized and the weirdest stuff ever sold on E-bay. The seller was an old woman from Miami, Florida. According to MSNBC, (this means it's for real) E-bay had deliberately post back the auction last November 2004 after it inadvertently pulled the auction out from the list, thinking it was just a hoax. The GoldenPalace.com, an online casino, had won the auction. Executives of the company said that $28,000 was nothing compared to the privilege of getting to own this 10-year old half-bitten sandwich bearing the face of Virgin Mary. Consequently, the fact that the Virgin Mary grilled cheese sandwich was already 10 years old and still it did not bear any traces of mold. That made those who read and have seen the auction go "Huh?" copart review | auction.com review 2012-01-20 I have a shop that sells art glass. My favorite art glass is paperweights. I have a lot of fun attending art auctions and buying art glass. I try to pay attention to what my friends and clients like and dislike.
I usually give people art glass paperweights that I find at art auctions for milestone birthdays and anniversaries. My grandmother turned eighty last October and I found a wonderful art glass paperweight for her. The art glass paperweight that I found for my grandmother was made by Baccarat. I was extremely lucky that this was one of the last things auctioned. A lot of people had already left the art auction when this item went on the block. My grandmother appreciated the pansy design because the pansy is her favorite flower. My cousin loves frogs. She has managed to decorate her home tastefully with her favorite item. I have been on the lookout for an art glass paperweight for her for years. I finally found one at an art auction I was at last year. The art glass paperweight featured a frog sitting on a lily pad and the frog was surrounded by blue water. It was really pretty and my cousin started using it on her desk immediately. My aunt collects art glass paperweights. I have been asked by her on numerous occasions to find pretty art glass paperweights for her while I%u2019m attending art auctions. Of all of the pieces I%u2019ve won for her over the years, one memory sticks out in my memory more than any other. By far the prettiest art glass paperweight I%u2019ve ever won at an art auction has to be one that features a blue and gold Macaw. Rick Ayotte was the artist that created it and it was even featured in a book of his work. He has created many lovely art glass paperweights. I have an art glass paperweight in my shop that just won%u2019t sell. It has been in the store the longest and I think I may have it priced too high. I won the paperweight at an art auction several years ago for one thousand dollars. The paperweight was created by Paul Stankard and it should have easily sold for twice what I paid for it. I have no trouble at all selling art glass paperweights that were made by Rick Ayotte. His work seems to draw the most interest. I try to win any auction I find for art glass paperweights he made. I won one not long ago that was pink roses. They looked so delicate and sweet. I know that this art glass paperweight will sell quickly. There have been some inquiries at my shop for art glass paperweights by Richard Marquis. I haven%u2019t found any in any of the art auctions I%u2019ve attended recently. I looked at some of the pieces he%u2019s made and I%u2019m not especially impressed. I will keep looking for the art glass paperweights at the art auctions I attend, but I will not be going way out of my way to track them down. I will just remember that Marquis is an artist that some of my clients are really interested in. I%u2019m sure that I will find an art auction with one of his pieces in it at some point. There were some inquiries about nautical themed art glass paperweights a couple of years ago and I found a fantastic artist that made them. I buy every art glass paperweight I can find that was made by Rick Satava. My favorite has to be the coral orange jellyfish that I found at an art auction an hour from my home. It was really pretty. The coral orange jellyfish art glass paperweight was just the first Rick Satava piece that I%u2019ve found at various art auctions. I%u2019ve also found jellyfish in ruby and blue. They are beautiful by themselves or when they are put onto a black light stand that has been built especially for them. quibids review | beezid reviews | Author
